A USAGM training for Journalists “Covering Illegal Narcotics, Law Enforcement, Addiction & Recovery” was held on May 29-31 in Dubai, UAE. This workshop was held in a hybrid format, with 36 participants from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and India joining both in the conference hall of the Intercontinental Hotel and via Zoom.
The high level of speakers included Qadir Habib, Director, Afghan Service, RFE/RL, and Hasib Alikozai, VOA, Afghan Service Chief, Deepak Dobhal, Executive Producer, SCA Division, Rahim Gul Sarwan,VOA Multimedia Editor, Antinarcotics Project, Muhammad Ayub and and Gulmira Suleymanova from The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme.
The CFC Big Ideas team handled various tasks for the event, including venue and catering arrangements, travel logistics, visa support, financial management, technical support for a hybrid format, designing hand-out materials, communication with speakers and trainers, and event registration with UAE institutions.
