In December, the “War Up Close” exhibition team tours the United States of America to cover the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On December 4, 2023, the first exhibition of the tour took place at the Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, California, USA).
As part of the exhibition, the team held several meetings with the Naval Postgraduate School Deputy Director of International Programs, the Naval Postgraduate School International Graduate Program Coordinator, and the Manager of the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation and Association Alumni and Members Department.
On December 6, the “War Up Close” team had the honor of opening the Ukraine Victory Summit as part of the two-day event Supporting Victory for People of Ukraine in the US Congress. The project was presented by Nadia McConnell, President of the US-Ukraine Foundation. With the help of immersive videos, panoramic photos, and cardboard, visitors were able to see the scale of the destruction of civil infrastructure, cultural heritage sites, and educational institutions in Ukraine caused by Russian military aggression.
On December 8, Old Dominion University, one of the most prestigious universities in Virginia, hosted another “War Up Close” exhibition as part of the team’s American tour.
This Sunday, the project was presented for the first time on the walls of the Ukrainian Catholic National Shrine of the Holy Family in Washington.
On December 11, the “War Up Close” team consisting of Yulia Matyash, Oleksiy Syvak, and Winnie Huang – the organizer and coordinator of the American tour – spoke at a press conference from the U.S. – Ukrainian Foundation at the National Press Club in Washington.
