In 2018, CFC Big Ideas was engaged to conduct the public awareness campaign on prevention of cardiovascular diseases as part of the World Bank’s “Serving People, Improving Health” project in Poltava.
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death both globally and in Ukraine. At the same time, most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by addressing behavioral risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and harmful use of alcohol.
With that in mind, CFC Big Ideas embarked upon the campaign to educate the public about the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, as well as convey science-based, behavior-focused, motivational messages promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Over the past two years, in close cooperation with national and local stakeholders, CFC has been able to establish a comprehensive public information system, delivering campaign messages through television, radio, newspapers, billboards, leaflets, social media and public events.
The campaign reached all major population groups, increased public confidence in healthcare, exposed common misconceptions, and induced behavioral changes aimed at maintaining and promoting health.
