On February 8-10, 2023, CFC Big Ideas organized a USAGM (United States Agency for Global Media) training on combating illegal logging, mining, wildlife trafficking and overfishing in Gabon.
Among the topics covered throughout the three-day training were Gabon’s Effort to Protect the Environment and End Illegal Activity; Investigating Nature Crimes in Gabon: Available Laws, Data, Sources; Tips for writing the pitch, engaging audiences, social media, digital storytelling; Mobile Journalism: Using cell phone to create and edit stories on the environment.
As a result of the training, journalists gained a better understanding of how to use new media tools to communicate effectively with audiences through stories about environmental crimes.
