The training consisted of 21 relevant modules that provided participants with knowledge, expertise, and skills, helping them improve the quality and quantity of their health reporting, as well as enhance their skills for finding reliable sources, fact checking, reporting facts, and tackling fake news. Journalists also gained a better understanding of the global health space and familiarized themselves with useful go-to platforms for important and verifiable health news and information. Moreover, the training helped participants discover new ways to find health stories beyond the obvious. They also acquired the knowledge and skills to better appreciate and use data in health reporting.
Arranging the workshops, CFC Big Ideas’ team successfully executed all necessary pre-training preparations, including communicating with participants and speakers (to designate session topics and create the most suitable agenda) and organizers (about the logistics), designing and producing training materials and visual components for trainings, as well as conducting financial operations.
All participating journalists remained highly satisfied with the workshops, emphasizing that the training has broadened their knowledge of current health issues and enhanced their ability to report about health in a more impactful manner, including new skills on how to research and humanize their stories, counter fake news, and utilize credible data.
